1. What is Malabari Paratha?
Malabari Paratha, also known as Kerala Parotta, is a flaky, layered flatbread made from refined flour (maida), popular in South India. It's soft inside and crispy outside, often enjoyed with curries or gravies.

2. Is Malabari Paratha the same as Kerala Parotta?
Yes, both names refer to the same dish. “Malabari Paratha” highlights its origin from the Malabar region of Kerala, while “Kerala Parotta” is a more common regional name.

3. How is Malabari Paratha made?
It’s made by kneading refined flour with water, oil, and sometimes milk, then resting the dough. The dough is rolled into thin layers, coiled, and flattened again to create its signature flaky texture.

4. What dishes go best with Malabari Paratha?
Malabari Paratha pairs perfectly with Kerala-style curries, chicken curry, egg roast, vegetable kurma, and dal makhani.

5. Is Malabari Paratha healthy?
Malabari Paratha is indulgent and rich in taste but not the healthiest option due to its use of refined flour and oil. For a healthier version, opt for whole wheat or less oil during preparation.

6. Can I freeze Malabari Paratha?
Yes, cooked Malabari Parathas can be frozen. Layer them with parchment paper, store in a zip-lock bag, and reheat on a hot pan when ready to serve.

7. What is the difference between Malabari Paratha and North Indian Paratha?
Malabari Paratha is layered, flaky, and made with refined flour, while North Indian Paratha is usually whole wheat-based and stuffed with fillings like potato or paneer.

8. How many calories are in a Malabari Paratha?
One medium-sized Malabari Paratha contains around 200-300 calories, depending on the amount of oil used during cooking.
